  • Closest water source before this project: The community has depended on shallow wells and streams. Some of the residents also harvest rain water for their use.
Descripton of the Project: A new well was constructed in the community. The inside was lined with concrete and a 37-foot pipe with a new Nira pump was provided to dispense the water.

Descripton of the village & people:  Sowada is a small farming community north of the capital Accra. The villagers are peasant farmers who grow cocoa, cassava, plantain, tomatoes, pepper, and other crops. A few of the people, mostly women, are petty traders. Their houses are well built with clay and concrete bricks, and roofed with zinc sheets. They have churches and schools to serve them, and there is also a clinic in the community.
Description of the well dedication:  About 42 people attended the well dedication ceremony. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was shared to encourage the people to live for Christ. They were made to understand the message of Christmas, and how God demonstrated His Love to us, even though we are sinners. God gave Jesus Christ, His only Son, to be born to the worldso we may be reconciled with God. After the presentation, an invitation was given to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Five people were prayed for and asked to join any Bible believing Church in the community.

Hygiene Lecture: After the dedication, Pastor Nadabo gave a hygiene lecture for those present at the well site. He talked to them about the need to take good care of the well and its environment. They were also encouraged to store their drinking water in a clean container at home after fetching from the bore well. They were all happy and excited about the information.
