Well Project in Kenyarko, Central Region, Ghana
Operation Blessing International - Living Water Projects: Ghana
  • Dedication: November 21, 2009
  • Village: Kenyarko, Agona East District, Central Region
  • Plaque Inscription: Sponsored by small beginnings BIG RESULTS
In Honor of Mr. & Mrs. Z. Rogers Bean
  • Approximate population of the village: 1,200
  • Number of beneficiaries of this project: 1,200
  • Closest water source before this project: a pump that was in use even though it was defective and a stream that flowed nearby
Descripton of the village & people: Kenyarko is located in the once-flourishing forest zone of the Central Region. The over-harvesting of trees has made the land a grassland. The people are now peasant farmers of cassava, maize, and plantains. Their houses are built of mud bricks and roofed with zinc. The children have to walk about 5 km to attend school.
Elizabeth Quaison, villager: "When the stream flowing a few meters from here that serves as an alternate source of water dries up, then we have to walk about 5 km to the next community in search of water. It is a pitiful sight watching elderly women and yound children walking with containers on their heads in search of water. Thank you for coming to our aid."
Kwesi Ankama, chairman of the water & sanitation committee: "Water is hard to come by in the dry season and so we goi through a lot of stress while looking for water. Thanks you, CBN, for your kindness! We hope to see more of you in the future. Extend our greetings and love to all those who made the work possible."
Descripton of the well dedication: About 15 people who attended the ceremony were presented with the Gospel message and the message of Christ, and were asked to surrender their lives to Him. Those who made this decision were prayed for, counseled with, and advised to fellowship with any Bible-believing church of their choice. There were three decisions for the Lord.
