Well Project in Gidan Mande, Katsina State, Nigeria
Operation Blessing International - Living Water Projects: Nigeria
  • Dedication: April 30, 2012
  • Village: Gidan Mande, Kafur District, Katsina State
  • Plaque Inscription: Sponsored by small beginnings BIG RESULTS
  • Approximate population of the village: 40
  • Number of beneficiaries of this project: 25
  • Closest water source before this project: Before receiving the Living Water well,
the closest source was a nearby stream with all its attendant hazards
Descripton of the village & people: The village is small and about 50 miles from the closest big city. The villagers are Muslims, working as herdsmen or peasant farmers. They grow corn, but it is barely enough to feed their families.

Description of the well dedication: Pastor Nadabo, the Living Water outreach representative, dedicated the well. In attendance were mostly men and children. Because of their Islamic faith, not all of the women were allowed to participate in the photographs, but the women who could not attend were watching the ceremony with excitement from in front of their houses.
Hygiene Lecture: After the dedication, Rev. Nadabo gave a hygiene lecture to the men and children. He spoke of the need to take good care of the well and its environment. They were also encouraged to keep it neat and their wives to store their water in a clean container at home after fetching it from the well. The people were happy and excited about the information.
Expressions of Appreciation:
Alhaji Bello Liman, Village Chief: "The presence of this well has brought life to us. We thank you for giving our village peace and comfort."
Outreach and number of salvations: No outreach has been done yet in the community. However, the local church saw the well as an opportunity for witnessing.
