Well Project at Adakanu Community School,
Eastern Region, Ghana
Operation Blessing International - Living Water Projects: Ghana
  • Dedication: July 23, 2013
  • Location: Adakanu Community School, Nsawam District, Eastern Region
  • Plaque Inscription: Sponsored by small beginnings BIG RESULTS
in Honor of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Richardson III & Family
  • Number of beneficiaries of this project: 200
  • Closest water source before this project: The school in Adakanu Community has no source of water. Students buy drinking water from local traders near the school. They are also required to carry a bucket of water from the the community to use at the school every day. This is inconvenient for the students, and distracts from their leaning.
Descripton of the Project:  A new well was constructed. The inside was cemented with concrete and a 37 ft pipe was laid. A new Nira pump was provided to dispense the water.

Descripton of the village & people:  The Adakanu Community School was established in 1994 with only 36 students in three classrooms. Today the school had expanded. They now have six classrooms and about 200 pupils. The school has electricity but there is no clinic. The school has both male and female students.
Description of the well dedication:  About 50 students were at the well dedication ceremony. There was a short presentation of the Gospel from the Book of John 14:6. The students were told that Jesus is their salvation. After the presentation, 20 of the attendees took Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They were prayed for and advised to find a Bible believing church to attend. Several were baptized.
Expressions of appreciation:

Agnes Dankwa, student:  "I am very glad for today, because of this well. Our need for water was very serious, and every day we were asked to fetch water from the community for the use of the school. New that we have a well in the school, it will enhance our learning. Thank you, CBN!"

Felix Aboja, student:  "I thank CBN for giving us this well. Every day we needed to go outside the school compound to fetch water for our use, because there was no water in the school. It was a challenge. Now we are free from the danger of carrying water on our heads. God bless CBN and all of the donors!"

Mr. Ebenezer Sowah, Headmaster:  "I would like to say thanks to CBN for providing the school with this well. The school has gone through a lot of water challenges. Sometimes you need to ask students to go and fetch water for their use, which is not for the best. They should focus on learning. This well has solved our problems. We promise to take good care of the well. God bless you!"
